Diversity/Careers becomes ABI
media partner
Springfield, NJ – Renard Communications, publisher of Diversity/Careers in Engineering & Information Technology magazine and website, has become the first-ever media partner for the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology (Palo Alto, CA) and its annual Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Technology. The magazine, read by 100,000 technical women, African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans and other diverse technical professionals, will bring its readers information on ABI and its events through a series of articles and conference event coverage.
In addition, Diversity/Careers will offer its resume service to all ABI members. One resume posting will make a member’s resume available to all Diversity/Careers advertisers: most of the Fortune 500, large government organizations, key academic institutions and more. “Our advertisers turn to Diversity/Careers to recruit diverse technical pros, from DB admins to rocket scientists,” said publisher Roberta Renard. “They’ll be delighted to see resumes from the highly-qualified ABI members.”
The first fruit of the partnership was coverage of ABI’s May 8 Women of Vision event in San Jose. “It was exciting to meet the ABI board members and corporate supporters,” said Diversity/Careers editor in chief Kate Colborn. Colborn interviewed all three award winners for an article in the magazine.
Most recently, Diversity/Careers was an active participant in the 2008 Grace Hopper Celebration in Keystone, CO this October. Coverage of that event will appear in the December 2008/January 2009 issue of Diversity/Careers.

About the Anita Borg Institute: The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology (ABI) was founded in 1997 by renowned computer scientist Anita Borg, PhD (1949-2003). Initially known as the Institute for Women in Technology, IWT was renamed in 2003 to the Anita Borg Institute in order to honor Dr Borg. In 1987, prior to founding the Institute, Dr Borg started Systers, the first online community for women in computing. In 1997, along with colleague and friend Telle Whitney, PhD, she inaugurated the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. Systers and the Grace Hopper Celebration remain important cornerstones of ABI’s work today. In 2002, Dr Whitney became president and CEO of the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology.
