WBENC convention:
the “power of progress” in Atlanta
WBEs and
major companies had plenty
of chances to network
The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) held its 2008 conference in Atlanta, GA at the end of June. Woman-owned businesses and major corporations had plenty
of opportunities to network and check out each other’s needs and offerings.

The conference featured addresses by supplier diversity and women’s business experts, sessions for WBEs and corporate procurement folks, an auction and an after-hours party
at the Georgia Aquarium.
Corporate co-chairs of the event were the Home Depot and UPS; featured corporate
sponsors were BP America, Dell and Time Warner. WBE co-sponsors were Accel and ASAP.
The centerpiece of the conference was a full-day business fair where 2,500 attendees visited with more than 400 corporate and WBE exhibitors. Publisher Roberta Renard, editor in chief Kate Colborn and administrative assistant NeKeyia Lewis staffed the Diversity/Careers booth.
