Grace Hopper Celebration breaks records in Phoenix

The theme was Everywhere. Everyone, and everyone showed up

At the career fair, employers offered internships and jobs

The Grace Hopper Celebration, the signature event of the Anita Borg Institute, is the largest conference in the world for technical women. This year, it grew to 8,000, nearly double the 2013 attendance.

At the packed career fair, nonprofits, national labs and major corporations from both coasts were recruiting for positions from intern to senior technical staff. Attendees represented 441 universities, and many of the schools took booths at the career fair to recruit grad students and faculty members.

On Thursday, Megan Smith, the newly appointed chief technology officer of the United States and a former Google tech leader, made a surprise appearance.

D/C editor in chief Kate Colborn and office manager NKeyi Lewis were there and brought back these photos.
