Grace Hopper Celebration sells out
The tenth Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, the signature event of the Anita Borg Institute for Women in Technology (ABI), brought 2,200 technical pros, students and company representatives to Atlanta in late September.
This was the largest conference ever, and the first to include a designated "career fair." Traffic was lively on two floors of tables where companies from Raytheon and Northrop Grumman to Facebook and Google chatted with job and internship seekers. Many were invited to interview booths for more extended conversations, and even job offers.
ABI staff members were delighted by the turnout, which filled the hotel conference rooms and ballrooms to capacity. Attendees came from North America, Europe and Africa to attend the event.
ABI sponsors a number of regional mini-conferences in the U.S., and will stage its first conference in India this winter.
Diversity/Careers editor in chief Kate Colborn attended, passed out magazines and took these photos.
